Make Your False Lashes Last Longer
Tip #1 Cleanliness is key
First babe, youre working with your eyes so make sure your hands and tools are clean. Debris from your makeup bag can irritate the eye and you do not want that.
Tip #2 Handle with care
We know it may be easier for you to just rip the lashes off the tray but this can cause the lashes to tear or bend improperly. Always use tweezers or a lash applicator to gently remove them from the tray. Hold at the base of the band and pull towards the other side.
Tip #3 You + Me, we stick together
Be sure to invest in a high quality, reliable lash adhesive. Do not use hair glue as it not only damages your natural eyelashes, pulling and thining them out, but its also hard to remove from the mink lashes and will decrease the life span of them. We recommend a lash glue like Duo. It comes in clear and black.
Tip #4 Trim the extras
We've all seen it. The horrible look of lashes that are simply too big. The hang off the corners of your eyes completely throwing off your makeup look and causing irritation. The simplest way to avoid this is by measuring the lashes to your eyelid before applying with glue. Carefully cut any excess lash hanging on the ends of your eyes. Be sure to observe the lash pattern to make sure you cut on a part that flares out to end the lash.
Tip #5 Less is more
Don't apply too much adhesive. Too many layers of glue will show on your eyelids. You want a seamless look, so apply a thin layer of glue to the lashes. Allow it to dry and become tacky, then apply them to the top of your own lashes. Secure the inner corner then the outer. Add more glue if needed.
Tip #6 When do I apply the bad boys?
Always apply your lashes after you have applied your face and eye makeup. Getting eyeliner, eyeshadow and other makeup on the lashes means that you may not be able to reuse them. Try to always make applying your false lashes the last step in your makeup routine.
Tip #6 Don't cake your mink lashes
Don’t apply mascara directly to the false eyelashes, this will not only change their appearance, but it will damage their shape and quality. If you want to wear mascara as well as false eyelashes, then we always suggest applying a thin coat to your natural lashes before applying the falsies.
Tip #7 Time to take it off
When removing your strip lashes, we recommend using the same initial method of removing the lashes with tweezers or an applicator as you would remove them from the tray. Start at the outer edge again, and gently peel the lash away from the eye, being cautious of the skin and making sure to pull from the band and not the lash tips.
If you feel you need to, you can also use some type of oil on a cotton swab to gently swipe along the lash band to break up and loosen the adhesive. The lashes should then slide off much more easily. This step depends on your personal preference, but either removal method is safe to use.
Tip #8 Clean it up
Once you have carefully removed the lashes form your eyes, the next step is removing as much adhesive from the lash band as possible. The best way to complete this step is to hold the lash with an applicator in one hand, and use thin tweezers in the other hand for controlled, precision and very carefully peel away the dried layer of adhesive.
You may find that this will come off in one piece, however sometimes you may have to take a little more time to ensure as much as possible is removed from the lash band.
Tip #9 Say no to soaking
Cleaning the lash band is essential for those that reuse their lashes quite frequently as it eliminates any potential build-up of bacteria, as well as any makeup residue. We recommend using a gentle eye makeup remover that is suitable for sensitive skin.
Pour a small amount onto the tip of a cotton ball and gently swipe the cotton ball along the lash band. Repeat this step until both false lashes are clean and free from adhesive, makeup and germs. Fully submerging or soaking your lashes in water, makeup remover, alcohol, or any other liquid can cause damage.
Tip #10 Storage in a cool dry place
One of the final but most important steps in taking care of your lashes, is finding a safe and convenient place to store them. You can simply just pop them back into the box you received them in. At Zayd Collection, our false lashes come in protective, tray and box.
Storing your lashes not only keeps them safe, but also keeps them clean, and protected from dust, dirt, and bacteria. This will also help maintain their shape wear after wear.
Most importantly, wear them with pride and rock your look, whatever lash you use!
